By this coming Easter, Greeks will be able to carry the downloaded full version of their digital IDs and mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs) in digital wallets on their mobile phones. Meanwhile, Greek authorities have also announced that it is now possible to save the ID card alongside other documentation such as vaccination and diagnostic certificates in the COVID-free GR Wallet.
The Secure Technology Alliance announced in a post that the TSA will accept Mobile Driver’s Licenses (mDL) at two airports in February of 2022 before adding two additional states in March as part of a pilot program.
According to an event recap from the Secure Technology Alliance, the TSA is planning to support Apple Wallet IDs (mobile driver’s licenses) in two airports in February. If successful, the test will expand to airports in two more states the following month.
Mobile driver’s licenses are gaining traction in at least 30 U.S. states. The progress exemplifies that the transition from physical driver’s licenses is well underway, and the future of identification documents is digital. On the heels of these advancements, the Secure Technology Alliance celebrates the success of its first Mobile Driver’s License (mDL) Workshop, which occurred in conjunction with an American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) and ISO-led regional mDL testing event.
Iowa state officials have launched a pilot project aimed at making digital driver’s licenses available for download sometime in 2022. Testing is underway on mDL compatible devices through December 2021.

Mississippi is developing a way for people to have their driver’s license, vaccination card and other state-issued documents available in a smartphone wallet. The digital driver’s license, or mobile ID, could be available as soon as November.
